Mortgage Broker Company - What Is A Wholesale Lender?

Ok, what is a wholesale lender. 

They offer loans to mortgage brokers at a lower cost then a retail branch offers to the general public.  The mortgage broker than adds their fee. 

The result?  The loan cost is about the same as if you obtained the loan from a retail branch.
